Stallion and breeding management software
StudPulse is management software for stallion keepers and breeding programmes. Covering bookings, mare cycles, pregnancy checks, foaling dates, pedigrees and the invoices that go with them live in one place. It records and schedules a breeding season — it does not choose the pairing for you. Free for up to two horses, permanently.
In short
- Coverings are booked like any other service, with the stallion, the handler and the facility each blocked for the slot.
- Foaling dates are calculated from the covering date, and overdue examinations are flagged rather than remembered.
- Mare owners get their own login: they see their mare's pregnancy and pay their invoice online.
- Every horse carries its sire and dam, so a foal is linked to both parents as soon as it is registered.
- It does not calculate an inbreeding coefficient or recommend a stallion — see the section on what it does not do.
Standing a stallion as a service
A covering is a service with a price, a duration and the resources it needs. Publish it, open the slots you will take, and a mare owner can request one from your public profile — or you enter it yourself and approve nothing. The stallion, the handler and the covering barn are each blocked for that slot, so the stallion cannot be committed to two mares at the same hour, which is the double-booking that costs a season rather than an afternoon.
Mare cycles and the covering season
Record a mare's cycle, the coverings that follow and which stallion was used. Each mare's history stays with her record rather than in a season notebook, so a mare who did not hold last year is visible when you are planning this one. Mares belonging to outside owners live in the same place as your own, with ownership recorded as shares.
Pregnancy checks, ultrasounds and foaling dates
StudPulse works out the expected foaling date from the covering date, and the pregnancy carries its own scans and veterinary checks from there. A mare whose pre-foaling examination has not happened is surfaced on the dashboard instead of depending on somebody's memory in a month with thirty other things in it. Scan images, lab results and invoices attach to the event they belong to.
Pedigrees, registration and the foal record
Each horse record holds its sire and dam, breed, colour, date of birth, microchip and registration details, so a foal is joined to both parents the moment it is entered and its line can be followed in the software rather than reconstructed from paper. The AI agent can answer questions about breeds and bloodlines from a curated equine reference — as background knowledge, not as a recommendation about your mare.
Covering fees, invoices and mare owners
A booked covering becomes a charge, and the mare owner can pay it online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay — and by BLIK or Przelewy24 in Poland. Somebody with no account can be sent a payment link instead. What is still owed and what is overdue sit beside the rest of the year's income, so a season's revenue is a figure rather than a stack of paper to add up in January.
What this software does not do
It does not choose a stallion for a mare, calculate an inbreeding coefficient, or score a proposed pairing. There is no genetic model behind it and no studbook integration. What it does is hold the records that such a decision is made from — pedigrees, past coverings, which mares held and which did not — and then schedule, track and bill whatever you decide. If you are looking for automated mate selection, this is not that, and it is better to know now.
Who this is for
- Stallion keepers standing one or more stallions for outside mares, who need bookings, certificates and invoices in one system.
- Breeding programmes managing their own broodmare band through the cycle, covering, pregnancy and foaling.
- Small breeders with a few mares, who get everything here free up to two horses.
Frequently asked questions
How much does stallion management software cost?
StudPulse is free for up to two horses, permanently and with every feature. Above that the price depends only on how many horses are in your yard, users are unlimited on every plan, and each paid plan starts with a 30-day free trial that needs no card.
Does it suggest which stallion to use for a mare?
No. StudPulse has no genetic model, does not calculate an inbreeding coefficient and does not score a pairing. It records the pedigrees and the breeding history that a decision is made from, and then schedules, tracks and bills the decision you make.
Can mare owners see their mare's pregnancy?
Yes. An owner or client gets their own login and sees their own horse, its pregnancy and checks, and the charges they owe, with a way to pay them. They see nothing about the rest of the yard — roles are enforced on the server, not hidden in the interface.
How is the foaling date calculated?
From the covering date. Enter the covering and StudPulse produces the expected foaling date, follows the pregnancy through its checks and ultrasounds, and flags a mare whose pre-foaling examination is overdue.
